The challenge
We were contacted by ADT Security less than a month before their electricity supply contracts were set to expire – this is a far shorter timeframe than we typically look to renew our client’s electricity supply contracts, so we knew we had to work quickly.
Market volatility had been high during the month and so we had to time the tender request with whatever market dips we had to work with, and luckily the timing presented itself.
Identifying Opportunities
There has been much speculation over where the pricing of energy will trend over the medium term, and industry proponents discuss the speed and efficiency to which new renewable generators can be constructed and commissioned being a major contributing factor for some expected relief.
With 3 new generation assets expected to be operational during 2025/2026 the decision was made to lock in a shorter 24-month contract that may unlock some savings for their 2027 Calendar year as these assets come online.
