Shearers Arms Tavern
The team at Shearers Arms Tavern have looked at the options for installing a commercial solar system a few times in the past, but there were competing projects to consider and relatively low electricity bills meant that the payback period or return on investment was not an appealing prospect.
Fast forward to today and the cost pressure from rising electricity costs meant that their annual energy expenditure was one of the largest costs for the tavern.
In addition, the venue experienced a number of grid outages causing interrupted operations and lost revenue.
The challenge
Shearers Arms Tavern, like many hospitality venues at present, are experiencing rising costs of operation brought on by higher salaries and higher input costs and operating expenses.
Challenges for the team included having questions answered like:
‘Will we still receive any government subsidies for a solar system?’
‘Can we install backup power generation that will cover our entire operation?’
‘How can we run independent from the grid when required?’
Spinifex Energy approached this project with these questions in mind and came up with a holistic energy procurement strategy that covered solar and backup power.
The results
Our innovative approach to energy procurement involves means we procure all types of energy required by our B2B clientele. Our services includes energy auditing and a review of a number of sources of data to ensure we can solve any problems our clients have with regard to energy.
We installed a 100kW solar system that wouldn’t redact from the aesthetic appeal of the venue while generating $30,000 in annual savings on their current energy costs.
In addition we installed a 320kVA diesel backup generator capable of running the entire venue, but also factored in room for the venue to grow (renovations are planned for the venue that will add additional pressure to the current power supply).
